Quand 2 guitaristes géniaux se rencontrent dans un club de jazz, ça ne peut faire que des étincelles! Carlton et Lukather sont de vieux habitués des studios californiens et se connaissent depuis des décennies (ils ont participé comme musiciens à des centaines de sessions, souvent sur des albums légendaires, qu'on pense à Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan et tellement d'autres!). Ils avaient déjà effectué une tournée au Japon en 1998 dont a été tiré un enregistrement radio fantastique (Tokyo 1998, The alternative broadcast). Ils se retrouvent donc en 2001 au New Morning parisien (j'adore cette salle à l'ambiance chaleureuse et intimiste), 7 morceaux en 127 mn, ça laisse le temps de s'exprimer: une bonne partie des titres de la tournée 1998 sont interprétés (4 sur 7). Ils sont accompagnés par Gary Ferguson (batterie), Chris Kent (basse) et Rick Jackson aux claviers. Les amoureux de belles guitares ne peuvent pas passer à côté. Moi je suis fan de Mr Carlton et de Toto, donc ce DVD m'a ravi (le CD live in Osaka qui a été tiré de cette tournée 2001 est excellent mais ne contient que 5 titres, un peu court dommage. A ne surtout pas rater pour tout amateur de jazz, blues, rock...ou autre!

I've had all his other videos and a couple of bootlegs. I wanted to like Larry. He is a great guitarist, but his written material always seemed a bit schmaltz-e. Like 1 degree towards Barry Manilow which is 1 degree too much. Also the lackys he had with him on past videos didn't help matters either. Finally!!! This DVD is phenominal. Lukather brings the cutting edge with out altering Carlton whom he obviously admires. The rest of the band makes it cook just right. I've never seen Carlton compositions sound so good. Good keyboards, drums and bass too. Not just a bunch of subserviant studio guys with no charachter. They rock and do whatever needs to be done. This video cooks and ""ALL"" the musicians shine. The music is formost and not just a man. This is music. A bunch of equals with good material. That is how it's done.

ラリー・カールトン&スティーヴ・ルカサーのパリでのライブです。
ブルーノート東京の企画で始まったこの二人のコンビですが、
本当に良い師弟コンビという印象で素晴らしいです。
狭いライブハウスみたいな会場でリラックスした演奏が繰り広げられます。
以前リリースされた大阪でのライブＣＤよりさらにこなれている
印象で、曲目もいくつか重なっているので、聴き比べてみても
面白いと思います。また、輸入盤は、リージョン１と記載されていますが、
実際には、リージョンフリー（オールリージョン）でした。
ただ、国内盤を（待てるならば・・）お薦めしたいです。
あと、曲目は

ｄｔｓ音声もありますので、臨場感がナイスです。
